Core stability exercise - Avoid neck and back pain

Have you ever suffered from neck or back pain? If you haven’t you are definitely in the minority. Most people have suffered with pain in their spine at some point in their life. With the stressful nature of modern living, spending a lot of time at a desk and behind a computer, or in the car stuck in traffic, we find ourselves in poor postural positions for hours at a time. This leads to imbalances occurring between the various joints and muscles, shearing forces, potential injury and pain.

There are certain strategies that you can employ to try minimise the strain on the spine. Never sit for longer than 45 minutes in one position. Move around, do a couple of stretches or walk and get a glass of water. When you sit back down make sure you start out in a good posture to continue working.

Core stability exercise strengthens the spine so that it remains protected from shear forces and injury. These muscles can fatigue easily, so you still need to change your position regularly. Here are a few examples of core stability exercise.

Exercises work the best if you are given the correct ones tailored to your needs and shown how to do them properly and efficiently.
