Because chipping is an arms & shoulders movement, it is vitally important that your lower body from the waist down forms a solid foundation. Any excessive movement in your foundation will cause an inconsistent ball-strike on your chip shots.
A great drill to help you create the feeling of chipping with a stable foundation is to set up with your right foot back.
