Obey the speed limits on your short putts

Have you had your fill of lip-outs on short putts?

Have you ever wished you could make the hole bigger for these vital putts?

Well, Steph believes that controlling the speed of your short putts will definitely enhance the size of the hole and decrease your putts per round… here’s the simple yet effective recipe:

Hit 3 putts from 1m

  • Firstly with the intention of hitting the back of the cup
  • Then the middle of the cup
  • Finally the third ball should just drop in the front of the cup

Repeat this drill at least 10 times, with your focus on the length of your backswing to control your speed throughout.

The practical implication of taking this to the course and understanding your speed limit, are as follows:

  • Hitting the back of the cup is for uphill putts
  • Hitting the middle is for breaking putts
  • Just dropping in is for downhill putts

So the more you practice this drill at the World of Putting, driven by Lexus, the less chance there will be of getting “tickets” on the greens.
