Getting out of a greenside bunker

You know you must hit the sand first, but you end up taking too much sand. Sound familiar?

Follow this simple prescription to get the ball out and put an end to your bunker woes:

  • Open your clubface at address by setting it open before gripping – this will allow your club to ‘bounce’ and take less sand.
  • Keep your weight on your left side throughout the swing and your head ahead of the ball.
  • Grip slightly tighter at impact with the thumb and forefinger of your dominant hand – this will ensure control of the clubface through impact.

Don’t forget to practice this from a variety of bunkers at The Pro Shop World of Bunkers.
