Gary Player is one of the most successful golfers of all time, winning nine majors and nine senior majors. He has probably travelled more miles than any other
athlete in history, eclipsing 12 million miles. Gary is one of only five players to win golf’s Grand Slam, joining Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger
Woods. Gary completed the Grand Slam at age 29 in 1965. He is also the only player in the 20th Century to win the British Open in three different decades.
One of his most memorable victories was the 1978 Masters when he started the final round five strokes behind the leader and won by one shot with birdies at seven of the last 10 holes for a back nine of 30 and a final round of 64. One week later he came from seven strokes back in the final round to win the Tournament of Champions. He followed that up with a third successive win on the PGA Tour in the Houston Open.
