Set Up For Power With Your Driver
There are two major principles in the set-up at address position for gaining distance off the tee box with your Driver…
- Launching the ball for maximum carry
- Preparing your body for that power turn in the backswing
The Launch:
- Your ball position must be forward (inside your ankle of the front foot) to ensure your club makes contact on the up. (PIC 1)
- Tilt your front shoulder higher to assist an upward launch at impact.
- As a bonus, this position allows your shoulders to square up to the rest of your body in the set-up. (PIC 2)
The Power Turn:
- Take a slightly wider stance to increase your width and improve weight transfer through the ball.
- Because of your shoulder tilt, your weight will automatically pre-set to your right side in preparation for the power turn.
- This right side pre-set will make it much easier to create width on your backswing, which is essential for greater club-head speed.
